城市公共空间虽然在近年来的城市空间环境及城市建设中占据了较重要的位置,但作为专门术语,它有别于其他城市空间概念的本质涵义,在国内并没有得到明确的界定。本文利用文献研究方法,通过对西方学术领域中城市公共空间概念的产生及主要相关理论的分析归纳,总结出西方城市公共空间公共性价值判定的主要因素。希望借此充实对城市公共空间概念和本质属性的理解,并指出对城市公共空间的研究将为在城市规划和城市设计领域内更全面地探讨建成环境与社会政治文化的关系意义提供参考视角。
Abstract：In spite of the mass quantity of the construction of urban public space in recent years,the definition of public space remains ambiguous in both Chinese urban planning regulations and academic discourses.Through an in-depth investigation on the related western literatures,from the origin of the term "public space" to the major theories on the nature of public space,this paper stresses that the essential value of urban public space lies in its significant role in people's social and political lives.It suggests that the nature of public space can be only understood or evaluated from a multidisciplinary and dynamic perspective,which will help reveal the subtle and significant connection between built environment and the social-political aspects.
